After two successful seasons of producing the My Youth on Record Podcast, we discovered a growing interest in Podcasting and Audio Arts among students. To address this we are piloting our Audio Arts and Podcast classes, both in-school and out-of-school-time, where students will learn the art of audio storytelling.
Further, YOR is expanding on our business partnerships for podcasting -- a social enterprise where we produce content for business partners, and our student interns are paid to work on the projects. Our plan moving forward is to teach our youth the skills to tell their stories via audio arts, hire them to gain real-world skills via our business partnerships, and then pay youth to produce their own, original content.

Youth on Record and Breck Music partnered in June 2021 for a week-long musical residency in Breckenridge, Colorado featuring YOR Teaching and Partner Artists. The majority of programming was youth-facing, with one adult workshop for educators, and neighborhood participation of all ages at two block parties. Workshops took place concurrently so that students could participate in all three workshops by the end of the residency.
The workshop series culminated with neighborhood block parties that featured live musical performances.
This program is designed to offer peer-to-peer facilitated mental wellness support for teens and young creatives. Youth connect around music that helps them make sense of their world. The program provides free tools to support each young person's creative path and provides opportunities to practice real ways to manage stress in a safe and welcoming space.
