Role Summary
Youth on Record is seeking a passionate and reliable Music Production Facilitator to lead engaging, beginner-friendly workshops for teens (ages 13-18) during Night Moves at La Alma Recreation Center. This facilitator will teach youth how to produce music using Soundtrap, guiding them through beatmaking, songwriting, and basic recording and mixing. Sessions take place twice a month and may include new participants or returning youth, so the facilitator must be flexible and ready to support both newcomers and advancing creatives. The facilitator will also be equipped to set up a portable studio for youth interested in recording their work, creating an inspiring and inclusive space where teens can explore and express their creativity through music.
The Music Production Facilitator is a paid workforce development position for 18-24 year olds.
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging, beginner-friendly music production workshops using Soundtrap
- Facilitate sessions that are flexible and adaptive—whether with a large group or just a few youth participants
- Arrive on time, set up your workspace, support DJ facilitator set up, and maintain a welcoming, youth-centered learning environment
- Participate in group check in. Track participation and engage youth in meaningful ways that encourage creativity and consistency
- Maintain an updated inventory, and ensure all equipment is properly stored and cared for.
- Communicate clearly with the team and advocate for any needed workshop adjustments or youth-informed improvements
- Be open to participating in sports or recreational activities when invited
- Attend monthly 1–2 hour planning sessions to co-build curriculum and reflect on program progress (planning sessions are paid at a $20/hr admin rate).
Qualifications
- Proficiency in digital music production platforms (e.g., Soundtrap, Ableton, FL Studio, Logic)
- Experience teaching and facilitating music production for teens ages 13–18
- Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot computers and portable studio gear
- Strong youth mentorship and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly
- Comfortable adapting facilitation style based on group size and energy
- Punctual, dependable, and organized
- Willingness to collaborate regularly with program staff and adjust to evolving youth needs
- Open to collaboration, curriculum development, and responsive to youth-driven feedback
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to transport gear between Youth on Record and La Alma Recreation Center

Youth on Record is seeking an energetic and youth-centered DJ Facilitator to bring energy, creativity, and mentorship to Night Moves at La Alma Recreation Center. This facilitator will create the musical atmosphere for Open Gym time by spinning live sets from 5:00–6:00 PM, taking requests, and engaging teens (ages 13-18) with curated playlists and hands-on interaction with DJ gear. Beyond performance, the DJ Facilitator will invite youth to learn and experiment with DJing under supervision, and support music production activities during the second half of the evening. This role requires someone who can adapt to the interests of returning and new participants, build rapport quickly, and collaborate closely with the Music Production Facilitator and Rec Center staff to deliver an inspiring, inclusive music experience.

Responsibilities
- Arrive on time to set up DJ equipment and be ready by 5:00–6:00 PM for the Open Gym
- Curate live DJ sets that match the vibe of the event while welcoming song requests and youth interaction
- Participate in group check in
- Facilitate hands-on DJing experiences for interested teens, providing basic instruction and supervised access to gear
- DJ during the sports tournament or support youth with music production and DJ instruction during the main workshop hour (6:10–7:30 PM)
- Build relationships with new and returning participants by creating an inviting, inclusive, and respectful space
- Help maintain, transport, and troubleshoot DJ equipment (controllers, mixers, speakers, etc.)
- Maintain an updated inventory, and ensure all equipment is properly stored and cared for.
- Track youth participation and provide feedback on engagement and program impact
- Be open to participating in sports or recreational activities when invited
- Attend monthly 1–2 hour planning sessions to co-build curriculum and reflect on program progress (planning sessions are paid at a $20/hr admin rate).
Qualifications
- Skilled in live DJing with digital controllers (e.g., Serato, or equivalent software)
- Experience teaching or mentoring youth, especially ages 13–18
- Ability to adapt facilitation style based on group size, experience levels, and interest
- Comfortable allowing teens to engage with DJ equipment in a supervised learning environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly
- Able to troubleshoot DJ gear and support basic technical setup
- Reliable, punctual, and organized
- Open to collaboration, curriculum development, and responsive to youth-driven feedback
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to transport gear between Youth on Record and La Alma Recreation Center
