Shewit Hailu

Shewit Hailu is a singer, songwriter, and activist in the Denver community. At 20 years old, she is only 5 years from her birthplace in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia.  Shewit is a recent graduate of West Career Academy, and has since become an intern with Youth on Record, participating in recording sessions and live performances with award winning artists such as Imagine Dragons and 21 Pilots, and such events as the Underground Music Showcase and the Westword Music Showcase.  In addition to performing, Shewit is involved with events that enrich the community through and outside of Youth on Record, including public speaking engagements and television interviews.   Shewit was a Real Rock Star Award recipients in 2014. Through her time with Youth on Record. Shewit claims that most importantly, was able to discover her creativity.   Rapidly accumulating hit orginal songs, Shewit adds to her talents by beginning the first chapters of her memoir entitled “To Be My Own Cheerleader”.  Shewit is most of all grateful for the amazing people she has met along the way. Without them, she says, she would not be where she is today.
