Rikard joined the law firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck in 2005 and is a shareholder in the firm’s Denver office. He advises companies on all aspects of securities law and stock exchange compliance, as well as serving as outside corporate counsel. Rikard represents private and public companies in a broad range of transactions, including public and private securities offerings, equity and debt financings, EB-5 transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate contracting and general commercial and corporate matters.
Before joining the Brownstein firm, Rikard held positions as a visiting professor at the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law where he taught administrative law and public international law, an associate at the law firm Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, D.C. where he advised clients on international trade matters before U.S. administrative agencies, U.S. courts and international dispute settlement tribunals, and a career officer in the Naval Counter Special Operations Forces Company of the Swedish Royal Navy.
Rikard earned his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School. Rikard was born and raised in southern Sweden and holds a Swedish Law Degree from Lund University, Sweden and a Military Degree (Commissioned Officer) from the Naval Officer’s Academy, Karlskrona, Sweden. He is fluent in written and spoken Swedish.
Rikard was drawn to Youth on Record because it combines two of his passions: education and music. Music has always been an important part of Rikard’s life and he believes it can serve as a positive source of inspiration, comfort and means of expression. Education is crucial to succeeding in life in general.
