We could not be happier with the start of this quarter. Both at Synergy School and at Devereux Cleo Wallace the students are demonstrating great capacity for learning difficult concepts. This week we covered advanced wave editing and applied our first effect, the delay. Now that the classes are an hour and a half, twice a week, we are able to really push it the first day, the students demonstrating the skills they have just learned, and leave the second day for individual and group projects and recording.

The things we are not afraid of doing...

At Synergy School this week, the second full week, we had four students record lyrics over tracks that they had made the first week. AND…..the lyrics were phenomenal. It was such an amazing day. All the students are producing so well and the new curriculum, although very intensive, is proving successful.

As we approach the completion of our second year, we would like to express our gratitude to all of those who have lent support to us. The time has come for the completion of the student albums. Each of the students which we worked with this semester, at each of the three treatment centers, Devereux Cleo Wallace, Savio House and Shiloh House, have submitted a track to be featured on their respective student compilations. Each album is impressive for so many reasons, least of which is that each track represents what can be done with hard work, determination and enthusiasm.  Successful engagement in one’s treatment is the goal and we couldn’t be more proud of the young people’s achievement.

Students from Devereux Cleo Wallace earned a trip to Cherry Sound Studios as a reward for all of their hard work. The students were able to master one of the tracks that they have been working with in class, as well as record lyrics. Thanks to our good friend Chris Guillot for hosting these fine young men.
