Youth on Record is hosting a youth songwriting contest for youth ages 14 to 21 who have taken a Youth on Record class, participated in Open Lab, FEMpowered, or interned at the organization. This contest is for new, emerging, and experienced songwriters! Your song doesn't have to be perfect. Take a chance and submit something. Collaborative demos are highly encouraged.

Contest starts February 2nd, 2017 and DEADLINE for demo submission is March 5th, 2017 before 5:00 pm.

Demos will first be reviewed by Youth on Record staff. Demos will then be sent out for a blind listening contest, and the winner will be announced March 15th.

The winner will receive a free YOR session where you will re-record your track for our annual YOR compilation album. The winner will also perform the track on Youth on Record Day on May 13, 2017.
